Kanayas Font Is Jade Green
Her Writing Style Is Unique In The Way That She Capitalizes The First Letter Of Every Word And Doesnt Use Any Punctuation
She Will However Insert Paragraphs Where Someone Else Would Use A Period And Or A Comma
In Order To Make Things Less Confusing

This is where you tell me if you'd rather I didn't use Kanaya's quirk when tagging your character(s). As you can see from the example above, Kanaya's writing quirk is fairly easy to read, but if you'd prefer not see it at all, please comment to this post with your character(s) name(s) and DW(s). Thanks!

In audio/video messages or logs, Kanaya's speech will be written normally / without quirks, so you don't have to worry about that.

History: Wiki link; Kanaya wasn’t in any RP before this one, so there are no memories to import.

Garden History: N/A

Abilities & Physical Abnormalities:

Kanaya is a troll, which, in itself, has a few nifty differences and advantages when we compare their anatomy with that of a human being: trolls are supposedly stronger (nowhere near super human, though), with thicker skins and sharper teeth and nails. Besides that, the physical differences are obvious: trolls have grey skin, horns, yellow sclera and yellow nails.

Kanaya isn’t your usual troll, however: she has always been able to withstand the Alternian sun, but also enjoy its sunlight; something ridiculously special, because trolls are a nocturnal race and the Alternian sun is known for its blistering hot rays. Likewise, the metamorphosis that Kanaya underwent after her death has only made her even more different from the other trolls, because she turned into a rainbow drinker: the troll equivalent of vampire. Contrary to the vampires in human lore, however, rainbow drinkers are day walkers and have warm bodies, and they also glow. Permanently. Like a white glowstick, except that their neat little trick is played 24/7, whether it’s day or night.

While it isn’t clear whether or not rainbow drinkers are physically stronger than trolls, it is only logical to assume that they are at least slightly faster and stronger than the usual troll. And last but definitely not the least, rainbow drinkers feed exactly like one would expect them to: they drink the blood of other trolls. Being in game, Kanaya will have to drink once in a while-- always with permission, of course.

Personality:

Meet Kanaya Maryam, the most fashionable troll in Alternia, with a penchant for interior decorating, landscaping and a not-so-secret passion for romantic tales of rainbow drinkers, the troll equivalent of vampires.

Kanaya is, in many ways, different from her peers. Compared to most of her fellow trolls, she isn't particularly violent: she is mostly friendly, very patient and helpful, and doesn't care about blood status, unlike trolls such as Equius or Eridan. Her online handle grimAuxiliatrix portrays both sides of her personality well: Kanaya is an auxiliatrix-- meaning "a helpful woman" in Latin-- and someone who cares deeply about her friends, often to the point of meddling perhaps a bit too much. More than one troll has pointed that fact out, and Vriska even called her a "lousy st8pid godd8mn supportive fri8nd!" In addition to that, Kanaya is also the troll to go to for Auspisticing: she often mediates interactions between trolls, making their relationship-- of any quadrant-- as functional as possible. In fact, Eridan has even said that Kanaya is "the vvillage twwo wwheel devvice wwhen it comes to auspisticing", making Kanaya's role as a meddling mediator even more obvious than what it already was.

Another difference between Kanaya and her fellow trolls is her ability to withstand the Alternian sun, even going as far as enjoying basking in its sunlight. She is very creative and obviously interested in both fashion and interior decorating / landscaping, as we can see by her various changes of outfits, the colorful (and stylish!) way she decorates her room, and the way she shaped the trees surrounding her hive using her lipstick/chainsaw. Lastly, she is also rather reluctant to troll the humans, namedly Rose, preferring instead to converse normally with them.

But Kanaya isn't only about the sunshine and rainbows. Like her online handle suggests, she also has a grim side: she won't hesitate to use violence and/or less orthodox methods if she has to. After all, this is the troll girl who cut her lusus' body—without disgust or hesitation-- to retrieve the matriorb (which would guarantee the survival of the troll race), and who chainsawed Tavros' paralyzed legs while he was asleep, so he could get a functioning robotic pair from Equius. It should be noted that her intentions may not have been purely altruistic, however: given her flushed (romantic) feelings for Vriska, who she had watched kiss Tavros, it is entirely possible that Kanaya felt somewhat vindicated as she cut his legs off, even if it was for his own good. But despite any sadistic pleasure she may or may not have felt as she chopped his legs off, Kanaya does not display or feel any animosity towards Tavros: to her, he’s just another Sgrub player in their group, and she will do her best to protect their team as a whole, save for the occasional genocidal exception (read: Eridan).

It appears that her rainbow drinker transformation didn’t change her personality. While she has shown more aggressiveness and violence after the transformation took place, this is mostly due to the fact that she wanted revenge, pure and simple: Eridan had destroyed the matriorb-- thus condemning the troll race to extinction-- killed both herself and Feferi, and KO'd Sollux: Kanaya had to make him pay in the most gruesome way possible. But even though she killed Eridan, she was nowhere as drastic with the other trolls that she faced on the 3x showdown: she punched Vriska in the face and kicked Gamzee in the bone bulge so hard that he literally flew out of his shoes and off of the lab floor, falling into the abyss close-by. Beyond these three particular trolls, rainbow drinker Kanaya was as considerate as her past troll self: after her reawakening, she drank Terezi's blood but didn't kill her, and even bandaged the puncture wounds after she was done, indicating that she obviously still cared about her friends. Her post-death pesterlogs also indicate that there were no significant changes to her personality; not only that, but she guided the newly blinded Sollux throughout the meteor, and even helped accessorize him, by giving him Feferi’s goggles.

And last but definitely not the least: Kanaya changed into a beautiful red dress after the 3x showdown, which only shows that her fashion sense and elegance were as strong as they had always been.

What are your plans for the character in-game? Shenanigans! No, seriously. I plan to throw her into many kinds of situations, effectively testing her ability to resist and withstand whatever event may happen-- both physically and psychologically--, and my own ability to play her in many different settings.

Anything else? Nope!

IC
Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.
i) IC Questionnaire (can be found on the application page)

(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)

What do you prefer to be known as?

My name is Kanaya Maryam, but calling me Kanaya would suffice. I am not particularly concerned with formalities whenever I am addressed.

How old are you?

Six solar sweeps.

Do you have any history in combat?

While I do not have any history with any sort of warfare or otherwise sociopolitical conflicts such as those I have been told about since my arrival to this world, I am quite familiar with combat. My weapon of choice is my lipstick, which turns into a deadly chainsaw at my command, and if you’ll allow me the temporary lack of modesty, I must say I excel at its use.

If so, have you ever killed?

Yes. [Better not to bring Eridan up, she doesn’t know how they would react, or if they would understand her reasons.] I killed countless creatures which aimed to terminate me or my companions, some significantly stronger than others.

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity?

I perform to the best of my abilities, of course. Quick thinking is required in many situations and I must be prepared for whatever tasks lay ahead of me, whether they are expected or unexpected.

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities?

Oh, yes. [There is a smile on her lips now, hinting at how proud she is of her handiwork.] I greatly enjoy sewing, interior decorating and sculpting topiary. All of my garments have been manufactured by me, and I have also created many beautiful clothes for my friends.

iii) What role do you take when working in a group?

In my world, I aided our leader in the tasks he required help with, and I also assisted our companions whenever help was needed. I have no problem with dirtying my prehensile appendages when I must do so; everyone has a job to do, after all.

iv) How talkative are you around other people?

As talkative as the situation requires me to be. While I do indulge in verbosity at times, there is no use in flooding others with my eloquence if they are not receptive to communication.

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning.

That would depend entirely on the island in question. How close would it be to the main land? Are there any seadweller trolls and their respective lusii hiding in the waters? What resources does this hypothetical desert island withhold? A faulty question will bring you faulty answers, if you do not give me enough information to form the answer which would be the most correct. [She shakes her head slightly.] I would bring my sylladex and strife portfolio with me. Those two “things” would be enough, because they contain many important objects within them, which I would need for my survival in whatever hypothetical island you’d throw me into.

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people?

It is far more important to have friends you can trust with your life, and who in turn you would die to defend.

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance?

You cannot ask me such a thing without describing the situation in question beforehand. [She frowns slightly.] Every situation is different and requires a different analysis and thinking process. Some situations require taking a chance even when the odds seem to be against you, while others do not, because they are not worth it.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person?

I consider myself to be a rational troll, who ponders things but sometimes acts on an impulsive manner.

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life?

Planning things ahead is necessary in order to obtain stability in whatever future you have chosen. Every action has a reaction, and planning your steps-- if you do have the time to plan them-- will give you the security that things will go according to plan.

Probably.

x) Do you like surprises?

If they are pleasant, yes.

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you?

Do you sometimes make questions that I could spend an entire perigee answering to? [She purses her lips slightly in annoyance. Was that a tiny bit of sarcasm? Maybe.] No, I do not. I have my flaws and my qualities, much like every troll and human I have ever met, but I do not dwell on the thought that something may be wrong with me.

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions?

Once again, you ask me a question that cannot be correctly answered without adequate context and background information. I can only know if I am smarter than my superiors if I know who my superiors are and am given enough time to assess their thinkpan, and I can only agree or disagree with their decisions if I am familiar with those decisions in the first place. I cannot give you an answer.

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages?

I have no opinion about that vegetable. Is there a hidden meaning behind this abrupt change of subject?

iv) Thread link
Thread link is here, and the journal in question is ‘vampauxiliatrix’. That thread took place at Sorting Hat RP, and although it’s a Harry Potter AU game, Kanaya’s personality and quirks remain the same.

Got anything to say about the way I play Kanaya? This is the place for it. Comments, questions, suggestions... and whatever else, really! Constructive criticism is always appreciated, of course! :D

Feel free to poke me if you have a plot bunny (or any other ideas) in mind, also. ♥
